Concert Preview

SKA 4 ENSEMBLE, the one and only ska-jazz band in Korea, released their first full album in July 2014, right after the team was formed. The band includes Sun-Yong Bae, an aspiring jazz trumpeter, and Seok-Cheol Yoon, a jazz pianist who works in various genres of music, as well as guitarist Jae-ha Seo, bassist Hyoung-sik Son and drummer Dae-min Kim, three members of Korea’s best-known authentic ska group, Kingston Rudieska. Their music is based on ska, but the band combines the rhythm of ska with the freedom of jazz, in an attempt to bring together ensemble jazz improvisation and a ska downbeat.

Ska 4 Ensemble will be performing their first major concert this Friday, October 24th, at Space Moon in Mullae-dong, and Do Indie has two pairs of tickets to the show to give away to two lucky readers. More excitingly, this concert will be the kick-off of a new monthly event at Space Moon called “Moon: ReFeSka”. Throughout this series, the club will host a reggae or ska concert every month, which is a great boon to the growing scene in Korea.

Let’s get skanking and chill out with some great music at Space Moon!
