World DJ Festival, which took place in Chuncheon last year continued the heat in Jamsil for 2017. The line-up included Alan Walker, Madeon, Zeds Dead, Jauz, Mike Perry, Excision and many more. The inclusion of Alan Walker, whose song ‘Faded’ was a worldwide hit, was a hot topic even before the festival began, so everyone was full of expectation. Four stages (WORLD, DREAM, MU:IN, SILENT DISCO) were provided in the outdoor and indoor areas respectively. Even though they were all showcasing EDM, each stage felt a little bit different. The audience was able to choose and enjoy the stage they liked best.

This year’s World DJ Fest slogan was “The best lineup is you!”, which matched the show very well. The audience was truly united, whether they included people on their own, first-timers, or those who had come with their friends. Superman, Dinosaurs, Minions, Diglett, the Super Mario Brothers, a monk, Jesus, and many other people dressed in a variety of costumes all partied hard together.

You can often see netizens posting “Let’s lose weight for World DJ Fest” on Facebook pages or on the bucket lists of people in their twenties. There were also many people making up their minds by using hashtags like #Diet, #WorldDJFestival, and #Bucketlist. Those who accomplished their goals seemed like they cared less about the chilly weather at night. There were a lot of people who posed for my camera and some of them even asked me to take their pictures. Everyone seemed excited.

One of the most impressive things about the festival was the festival staff. World DJ Festival is a place where people can enjoy themselves without worry, not caring what other people think, but feeling free. Many people also attend the after-parties organized by the festival promoters. For those who work so hard all year, World DJ Festival is an annual chance for liberation. Maybe if you party hard, you might be able to return to your reality with renewed energy.
