Zandari Festa 2015 is fast approaching and will take place in Hongdae from October 2nd - 4th. Like you, we couldn’t be more excited and we are already readying our schedules, pens, and maps (essential tools to plan out the best route between each venue) in order to make sure we don’t miss any of our favorite bands. In order to highlight some of the talent performing at this year’s event, DOINDIE and our friends at Korea Gig Guide have teamed up to ask a few of the many exceptional acts five simple questions.
For this installment, we talked with Seahorse Corps, Magna Fall and Say Sue Me. This is what they had to say :
WonGoo : I don’t think I have understood this question correctly. Almost everyone knows Seahorse Corps. If you don’t know us, then well ….
HeeJin : We are a band that people can communicate with, we can have fun, dance and be moved together.
HeeJin : We are looking forward to this show a lot because it is a rare opportunity to see so many great bands all playing at one event, but I am also looking forward to the after party as well. Also it is a good chance to see artists you have never seen before.
Wongoo : I’m always excited when I hear the word ‘festival’.
Kisoo : It is always fun to play a show for new people, I always look forward to these kinds of shows and enjoy them a lot. I guess that’s why I am looking forward to Zandari.
Wongoo : I guess people will want to see our sexyness and coolness.
HeeJin : I think we are a band that emits a really good energy. So when people are in need of energy they come to see us.
Jurang : You should look forward to lots of dancing!
Wongoo : I plan to be off watching the other bands play.
Jurang : I am going to find the highest place in Hongdae and climb up so I can look down over Hongdae.
HeeJin : I will try to see all the bands I have wanted to see but never had the chance to see. It will be a rare pleasure.
Kisoo : Marvin Gaye, my hero.
Wongoo : My grandmother, I’d like to see her one more time.
HeeJin : Jimi Hendrix. I am a keyboardist, but he is the only artist that makes me stop thinking about the keyboards. I would love to meet him just one time, listen to music, dance, and drink together.
Jurang : Me too, my grandmother. I really really want to be able to see her one more time.

David : We have been playing here in Hongdae, and other places, for the past 5 years or so and we love it. We love making music.. playing shows for ourselves and for you. Come check us out if you have not so far. You might regret it if you do, or if you don’t!
Joongmo : We sound better live than anything else, but our record sounds good too! So purchase them all!
Younsoo : Come! After Zandari Fest, you won’t forget us.
Kevin: Also, they should know we are not a “foreigner” band, but more of an international or mostly local Korean band.
Joongmo : Last time we had a great response from the audience. Looking forward to it again.
David : We always liked playing at Zandari. For the first few years it was great to mix with other bands at the after parties. The shows weren’t all that great. But last year’s show at Gogos2 was great. We did some street advertising which I think worked in our favour.
Kevin : Yeah, Zandari is fun because we get to see so many actual indie bands of Hongdae in one place. Bigger festivals are reserved for bigger and international bands, so Zandari is like a local party.
Younsoo : It’s such a wide show. All the clubs get in on Zandari, and many people will be there.
Kevin : People can expect a sincerity of performance and energy with Magna Fall. We don’t have pretension the way some bands do.
Younsoo : Expect Magna Fall! It’s true.
David : Expect Younsoo! Respect Younsoo!
Joongmo : It’s not just our sound you can wait for, it’s our whole stage show. We go crazy?
Kevin : I'd like to drink more of the free cocktails and cannabis beers they provided last year. Those were delicious.
Joongmo : Drink some nice beer
Younsoo : I want to see Jambinai they’re fuckin cool.
David : Yeah.. I’ll go with the beer as the lads said. And I’ll see loads of random bands.
Joongmo : Soundgarden members, or a few of those early 90’s grunge bands. I would like to propose that we play with them. I’m pretty sure they will like us.
David : I’d like to meet Robb Stark and ask him is he dead or alive and find out was it cool enough hanging with Mastodon. If he had a good time then maybe i’ll change my answer to Mastodon members.
Kevin : I'd like to meet Charles Dickens and drink a pint with him. I'll bet he would have many hilarious and cool anecdotes to tell.
Younsoo : haha. Don't know. Maybe Oliver Twist
Magna Fall : Thanks DoIndie. See you at Zandari! DoIndie foEVA!
Sumi : We are a mixed gender 4-piece band.
Sumi : We think of Zandari as a place where we will be able to showcase our sound to loads of new fans who have not heard our music before. We always look forward to meeting people who love music but don’t know us yet!
Sumi : A brilliant performance? Funny comments? Whenever people go to watch bands they are expecting those kind of things, right? We don't excel at either of those things, but we are good at making an atmosphere where people can drink booze and dance naturally. We hope everyone can enjoy the show with us.
Sumi : Whenever we play and dance at unfamiliar places with unfamiliar faces, strange things always happen. So long as no one gets hurt or loses anything expensive, we are always ready for a good time.
Sumi : With regards to food, it always changes depending on the location, the weather and our feelings on the day … one thing that always remains consistent though is beer. If by chance you are not feeling too happy and you drink beer … I don’t know why but it always gives you a certain glow and strength as well. If by chance you were feeling happy and you drink beer it makes you think you will be a good dancer. And you will keep thinking that even when you are actually dancing.
